Our vision is encapsulated in the essence of our name: “To be a centre of excellence for teaching, research and community service that empowers the individual to strive to the utmost for the development of humanity”.
MISSION
Our mission is to produce roundly trained Universal Man, who is motivated and is poised to accelerate national development using sound knowledge and application of innovations in Arts, Science and Technology.
PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is existentialist – man is the product of his own making. A University produces the type of graduates it deserves. Garbage in garbage out. The RNU is poised to put in all it requires to produce the Universal Man.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The goals of the University are:
1.
To establish a “Communiversity” that responds appropriately to the needs of its students, the community, the Nigerian state and the world in general;
2.
To prepare students for scholarship and service in the areas of general and applied knowledge;
3.
To contribute various educational services to meet the needs of the community at large;
4.
To provide curricula and other services to respond to the demands of a dynamic, democratic society;
5.
To provide such diversification of specialized educational programmes as to accommodate students with varying educational and occupational interests and levels of potential for achievement;
6.
To run a University of the highest standard as model in quality, teaching and research with technological acquisition and application with an ICT Centre of Excellence;
7.
To provide high level manpower in ICT, Science, Management and Engineering;
8.
To develop upright citizens, with good citizenship, appreciative of dignity of labour through an organized student Study and Work Programme in order to promote the acquisition of industrial and agricultural expertise, and exchange of skills between the University industry;
9.
To access University education to the exceptionally gifted but indigent and poor, without prejudice to race, sex, creed or political leanings through a carefully managed University Scholarship Scheme.
STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
In order to achieve these goals, the University consents to;
i. provide the millennium state of the art facilities and equipment for teaching and learning; through full computerization of operation, through Internet connectivity and provision of Information and Communications Technology (ICT);
ii.
employ the right calibre and quantum of staff that are sufficiently motivated, trained and with opportunities for retraining.
iii.
Make adequate capital base for meeting all capital and recurrent needs of the University;
iv.
pursue an aggressively linkage programme with neighbouring Universities as well as overseas’ Universities;
v.
develop a robust programme of study-and-work, SIWES and TAAM;
vi.
operate strictly within the guidelines of the Quality Assurance Department of NUC.
