The Vice Chancellor

Prof. Nkem Chinedu Awujo, a fellow of the African Scientific Institute and the University of Lagos, is a renowned Professor of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology who until his appointment was the immediate past Head of Microbiology Department, Federal University Wukari, Nigeria.

In addition to his several years of experience in research and teaching, he has held several administrative offices in universities including Dean, Director of Academic Planning, Director of Works, Director of SIWES and was a Member of the Governing Council of Renaissance University. He has also served in member and Chairman of several Academic Undergraduate Programmes Accreditation Panels of the National Universities Commission.

Prof Awujo began his career as a Graduate Assistant in the University of Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria and has offered his services as a Visiting Professor to several universities in Nigeria including Federal University Lafia, Nasarawa State, Benue State University, Makurdi, Benue State, Evangel University, Akaeze, Ebonyi State and Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu State, Nigeria.

His pioneering ability is noteworthy. He was a Founding Foreign Faculty, Medical Research Centre at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Pakistan, the Founding Dean, School of Post-Graduate Studies and Research as well as Founding Chairman, Institutional Research and Ethics Committee, School of Health Sciences, Kampala International University, Uganda. He is credited with the establishment of Microbiology programmes in six Nigerian and foreign Universities. He is the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board member of several journals. He currently belongs to several professional bodies.

Prof Nkem Chinedu Awujo is happily married to Jessica and is blessed with children. Prof Awujo has since assumed duty.
